In recent years Fireworks has become as important in the graphic and web designer’s arsenal as Photoshop or Illustrator. Fireworks is specially known for its built-in wireframing and prototyping tools, as well as its ability to produce transparent web graphics that will work in all browsers.
In this latest version, the performance has been improved, with a much quicker startup time, while using less RAM for program operation. The property inspector panels, from where you can instantly change any available property and which is one of Fireworks greatest features, has been overhauled – it now responds much faster and a lot of new features has been included.
A new text engine has been added in Fireworks CS5 with a lot of small improvements like increasing the amount of text for copying and pasting from 2000 to 8000.
Miscellaneous new features include vector compound shapes, snap to pixel (instantly removes any blurriness from vector objects), and the introduction of templates. The new gradient dithering option enhances graphic quality even more.
Fireworks CS5 might have been dubbed as a stable release by the design community, but there are a lot of new features and enhancements included in this version that will really make upgrading worthwhile. |
